Battlefield 6's Redsec Mode, Coming Tuesday, Brings Battle Royale Back to the Series

**Battlefield 6 Launches First Season and New Battle Royale Mode 'Redsec'**

The Battlefield franchise has made a triumphant return with the release of Battlefield 6 earlier this month, signaling a resurgence for the beloved multiplayer military shooter. Building on the initial excitement, the developers are now gearing up to launch the game's first season of content, which promises to introduce a host of updates and, notably, a brand new free-to-play battle royale mode called Redsec.

**Season 1 and Redsec Release Details**

The first season of Battlefield 6 officially kicks off with Update 1.1.1.0, which is scheduled to go live on Tuesday morning, according to announcements from the official Battlefield social media accounts. The seasonal patch will be available at 5 a.m. Eastern Time (2 a.m. Pacific Time). Later the same day, at 11 a.m. ET (8 a.m. PT), players will be able to dive into Redsec, the much-anticipated battle royale mode.

This release marks the franchise’s second foray into the battle royale genre. Battlefield V previously introduced Firestorm in March 2019, a mode that arrived five months after the game’s launch. While Firestorm attempted to tap into the then-booming popularity of battle royales, it struggled to maintain player interest, especially after the release of Call of Duty: Warzone in 2020, which quickly became a dominant force in the genre.

**Redsec: What We Know So Far**

Although official details about Redsec have been scarce, with only a brief 10-second teaser trailer shared on Monday, the development team at Battlefield Studios offered some insights in a September Battlefield Labs update. This pre-release information, combined with community testing feedback, sheds light on what players can expect from the new mode.

Redsec will introduce a brand-new map designed specifically for the battle royale experience. Players will be able to access a variety of transport vehicles and, as the match progresses, may unlock armored vehicles, adding a strategic layer to gameplay. During the recent testing phase, squads consisted of four players, though it's not yet confirmed whether solo play or other squad sizes will be available at launch.

Staying true to Battlefield’s roots, Redsec will allow players to select their class before a match begins—mirroring the class-based system found in traditional Battlefield modes. However, once the match starts, players won’t be able to change their chosen class, encouraging careful planning and team coordination. Progression within matches will hinge on earning experience points (XP), which can be gained by eliminating opponents or completing in-game missions. As they level up, players will unlock new traits that enhance their soldiers, providing a sense of ongoing growth and personalization.

A signature feature of the Battlefield franchise—the destructible environment—will play a significant role in Redsec. Players can demolish walls and buildings to adapt to the ever-shrinking play area, a hallmark of battle royale design. The developers
